Anonymous chatAnonymous chat with no sign-up
Sometimes you want to talk without being yourself for a moment: to say what is on your mind, practise a language, or just chat with someone who does not know your friends or your family. An anonymous chat is made for that.
On Chat5 you join with a nickname. No real name, no phone number, and in guest mode no email.
What anonymous means here
- You choose a nickname. You can change it whenever you like.
- Other people never see your email, your account details or your location.
- No photos, no profile page, no stored history that others can browse.
- Room conversations are not kept long term: they are deleted about an hour after the last person leaves.
What Chat5 still keeps, and why
Anonymous does not mean unaccountable. To protect everybody and respond to reports, Chat5 keeps a connection log (including the IP address) for a limited time, and reports come with a copy of the recent messages. This is explained in detail in the privacy policy. It is what allows people who harass others to be banned and not simply come back.
Keeping your own privacy
- Use a nickname unrelated to your real name or your other accounts.
- Do not share your phone number, address, school, workplace or social media with someone you have just met.
- Do not click links or install anything because someone asks you to. Chat5 does not allow links in messages.
- If someone makes you uncomfortable, block them and report them.

Not in guest mode. You only need one if you create an account.
Can people find out who I am?
Only if you tell them. That is why we advise against sharing personal details with strangers.
